Job SummaryCenterPoint Energy is looking for an Engineering
Assistant - LCL12 Clerk 8 to join our Team, located in Minneapolis,
MN. You will have the ability to be responsible for processing and
monitoring permit applications and deadlines, as well as
maintaining a database of all permits for construction and
maintenance projects. Position will proactively monitor internal
reports to assure the timely receipt of permits, contact
governmental agencies regarding permit requests and provide
post-construction notifications. The Permit team is made up of (3)
ENG Assistants, and serves as a supporting role to Engineering,
specifically managing the permitting process that is crucial to
Engineer gas main and service projects. Engineering creates the
designs, our team applies for the permits with agencies to allow
the work to happen, we receive the approved permit, and then the
job goes to the field for construction. This team works permit
requests from the entire MN region, tracking permits in a
SharePoint Permit tracking program. We apply for permits with
agencies such as Cities, Counties, MNDOT, Railroads, and Park
Boards. The job requires good time management skills to be able to
work and balance incoming jobs (front end process) as well as
manage invoices that need to be paid after the fact (back-end
process). Most documentation work is done electronically with PDFs
and permits are applied for via agency websites. Essential
Functions
- Provide a broad array of support for internal engineering
projects and tasks that vary and are dependent on the
workload.
- Complete and submit permit applications for State, County and
Local agencies for all main and service installation and system
maintenance and repair projects.
- Responsible for accurately completing all forms and for
coordinating with all departmental personnel involved in the
process to ensure that permits are completed in a timely
manner.
- Responsible for initiating and processing checks and check
requests for permits and other advanced payments required by
railroads, DNR and other agencies.
- Maintain database of all permits requested and received to
ensure that accurate information is maintained on a continuous
basis regarding the status of all pending and received
permits.
- Distributes permits to appropriate personnel and prepares
permit return correspondence and gathers project information to
support governmental agency requests.
- Maintain a list of agency permit officials and provide
quarterly updates to department personnel.
- Develop and monitor reports that support the timely receipt of
permits and track various items required for reporting or
payment.
- Contact government agencies, as needed, to follow up on
delinquent permits and to request verbal permits for fast track or
emergency projects.
- Scan paper orders, drawings, aperture cards, and verify
data.
- Prepare address lists, notification letters and correspondence
for other personnel. Education Description
- Requires a high school education or the equivalent knowledge of
English, basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division and calculation of fractions and/or percentages, grammar
and punctuation. Experience
- Requires a minimum of two years of related experience handling
clerical or administrative duties, including proficiency with word
